COMOX VALLEY FITNESS BIGGEST LOSER CHALLENGE 1
Group Finishes 212 pounds lighter!
Comox Valley Fitness' first Biggest Loser 12 week challenge came to an end last Monday with an overall weight loss of 212 pounds! The overall winner, Kyle Duncan from Union Grill and Grotto Restaurant, finished his 3 month challenge 44.1 pounds lighter and was thrilled to get a 6 months membership at CV Fitness along with great prizes from local sponsors. Trevor Kimler came close 2nd with 36lbs and won for most dedicated . Trevor says:
" Thank you to Sylvie and Megan for all the help they have given me over the 12 weeks of this contest. This program has helped me get started on my weight loss and how to stay motivated to make this a lifestyle change. I would recommend this program to anyone who feels they need the extra encouragement and help to get started on their weight loss."
All of the participants who kept on track and stayed motivated until the end did amazing! After the 12 weeks ended, the group immediately signed up with CV Fitness memberships and classes to continue with their weight loss journey. Participants agreed that the personal training, weekly weigh-ins and classes were a huge help in their success. "Having someone look at your diet and being accountable each week for your weight makes you work much harder" one member notes.
As we all know, weight loss will vary for everyone. Some may have had an easier time than others, but those who remained determined and focused got the results. "It's definitely not an easy journey, but making the choice to stay mentally driven is key, otherwise we let ourselves make excuses to give up". Sponsors helped to keep these participants in good spirits by donating prizes along the way. CV Fitness would like to give many thanks to Edward & Parnell, The Head Shed, Extreme Runners, Bikram Yoga, Bell Mobility, Jeannie Spencer from Invision Your Life, Endless Sun and BodyPhyx.
Money was also raised by the CV Fitness group for local charities YANA and the Beaufort Children's Center. As the pounds were lost, CV Fitness donated dollars as well! They were able to raise a total of just over $1000.00. CV's Biggest Loser 2 is underway with an eager and positive group. This new group has the opportunity to see the last participants in action while they keep up with their workouts. Three short months ago they were in those same shoes…nervous and maybe a little intimidated. Now, however, they are doing box jumps and running 400meter sprints! A huge difference for only 12 weeks! Now that is called good work!!
PRESS RELEASE - 4 Weeks In
Richard was the winner of the first challenge - Men's category
Only 4 weeks in and Comox Valleys' Biggest Loser is showing great results. The 9 participants started their 12 week challenge with great enthusiasm, taking full advantage of all the perks-protein shakes, infrared sauna and x-fit/sport conditioning classes-a grueling workout for anyone! Collectively they have lost 125 pounds and over 35 inches! "It's very exciting to the changes…in weight and in confidence. The teamwork is also great! With such a diverse group, everyone remains very supportive of one another…awesome to see!"
At their first 3 week challenge, an intense workout that included running in the wind and rain, one guy and one girl finished with a great prize from one of CV Fitness' sponsors. "Local businesses have been extremely supportive and very generous to help reward our Biggest Loser group through their tough challenge" Some of these local sponsors donating to this challenge include Extreme Runners, Endless Sun Tanning, The Head Shed, Body Phyx, Edward & Parnell, Pure Wireless, Bikram Yoga, McKinnin Photography and of course CV Fitness.
Other donations surrounding the Biggest Loser include the money being raised by the participants themselves. Each participant is trying to raise money for YANA and the Beaufort Children's Center in the Comox Valley. They still have 2 months to go and an individual has already raised over $600. "It looks like we should be able to make a good contribution to these charities at the end of our challenge! Hopefully we can continue to raise these generous donations throughout our Biggest Loser 2…that could make an outstanding difference to these charities."
