COMOX VALLEY FITNESS TRANSFORMATION

Catherine Whitten - Final Update

Progress Report
By Angela Fletcher of Symmetry

Cathy Whitten has shown drive, persistence and determination through her three months of training. She has approached the transformation with passion and enthusiasm and has been more than a pleasure to work with.

Her dedication to her fitness program has resulted in a stronger, more toned body highlighted by new muscle definition and an impressive increase in strength. Cathy's results have prompted her to possibly excel to a higher fitness level and will continue to train five days a week.

Cathy's training goals were to tone and firm adding shape and definition to her already slim build. As such, her training comprised of weight training and moderate paced cardio to finish each training session. The time allotted for cardio started at only 15 minutes and finished with 40 minutes utilizing varying pieces of equipment. Training in the weight room started with low weights and high repetitions to prepare her body well and to encourage mind body connection through the execution of each exercise.

As we train, we will find it most beneficial to 'feel' the muscle group (s) that we are primarily working. When our mind connects with our body during training, we can focus on a particular muscle group thereby putting the full demand on the muscle group intended to be worked. If we are unaware of what our body is 'supposed' to be doing, we allow for compensation, where the rest of our body or a stronger group of muscles will aid us in the movement thereby lessening the effect of the exercise.

After a couple weeks, Cathy's training regime consisted of four days of weight training, finishing with cardio and an added day of core conditioning. Her program was progressive and her exercises changed on a regular basis in order to constantly shock her system and to elicit muscle gains and definition.

As a trainer, I thoroughly enjoyed Cathy's will to succeed in every means of her life including her fitness program. She could truly serve as an inspiration to those wanting and needing to make a life change. Congratulations Cathy on doing an amazing job. I look forward to training with you in the future.
